Affiliate promotion is huge. The affiliate marketing industry is worth billions of dollars and is growing at a rapid rate every year. What makes it so exciting is that it is easy for anyone to take a big chunk of the pie for themselves!
If you want to be a successful affiliate marketer you’ll need to understand and implement the following 4 secrets:
1. Pick something that you’re passionate about.
This is very important. To be a successful affiliate marketer you have to spend a lot of time gathering content about the products or services you’re promoting. Those that are passionate about what they are marketing tend to do much better.
2. Make sure your niche already has a market.
Don’t be afraid of competition. Embrace it! Affiliate promotions that have a lot of competition means that others are making money in that niche, and yes, you can too.
An easy way to find out if your niche has a market is to consider if there are magazines that are published in that niche.
Another way is to do a search on Google for your niche and observe how many ads there are that appear. The more ads, the better.
3. Presell, don’t sell.
Affiliate promotion is not selling. No one likes to be sold. What people want is good information so that they can make informed decisions and feel confident about a purchase. That is where you come in. The super affiliate will presell their visitors by giving them great content on what they are interested in.
This is why review sites are so popular amongst affiliate marketers. They’re super effective because prospective buyers want to compare and make sure they’re getting the best deal.
Remember, though, that you need to be genuine. This is why step 1 is so important. Research the products your promoting and write about them. Give your honest recommendations. Your sincerity will come through, which will build trust with your visitors. If your visitors trust you, they will buy your recommendations.
4. Build a list.
Getting targeted visitors to your site will take some effort. Unless you capture their email address you will lose contact with them forever! Building an email list is not hard and doing so will pay you huge dividends for years and years to come.
Imagine being able to do an affiliate promotion to a list of people that you know are interested in your niche. Just send out an email and within minutes you are making sales!
Don’t abuse your list. Give them great content and also good offers every now and then.
Very good idea about “presell” instead of “sell”. I’m sure that’s a mistake many bloggers/internet marketeers are making (including myself, most likely).

I’m not sure I’m preselling properly. I was recently informed that I need to use a “call to action statement” in my articles. But isn’t that selling?
Hi SFaith,
Yes, you’ll want to have a strong call to action at the end of your articles. This call to action is allowed to be included in the resource box which is added at the end of the article. This is acceptable (and even recommended) by all the article directories.
