How To Build A Business Email List

Most know the importance of building a business email list but don’t do it because they don’t know where to start. It really isn’t hard at all once you understand the basics of what you need to do and begin taking action.

To build an email list, you need the following 4 elements:

1. Signup offer. Gone are the days when someone will happily give you their email address without any incentives. Offer your potential subscribers a free gift such as an ebook, report, email mini-course, software, etc. Something that they can get instant access to after they sign up. For best conversions, make sure your offer is related to the market you are in.

You may be thinking, “where can I get a free ebook or report?”. Write one yourself! If you don’t have the time or the necessary knowledge, you can buy a Private Label Rights product, or even better yet, get one free from internet marketing giveaway events.

2. Landing Page. This is the webpage which you will use to entice your prospects to join your business email list. Landing pages should not be long. They should include a big heading, a few bullet points of the main benefits joining your list would offer, a strong call to action (e.g. sign up now and you’ll get our 46-page report absolutely free!) and the optin form.

Don’t have a landing page or need some help setting one up? Get your hands on my free landing page handbook.

3. Autoresponder Series. Capture your optins into an email autoresponder. Autoresponders can be set up to automatically send emails out to your subscribers at any interval you choose. You can send out messages on a daily, weekly, monthly, or random basis as you please.

This will save you a lot of time and will bring in much more business.

Imagine you are a car service center. Instead of mailing or calling your clients every six months to remind them to bring their car in for a service, this can automatically be done using your autoresponder.

Want to take it to the next level? Send them out handy hints on a monthly basis. This will help to build a relationship of trust and respect, so when the service reminder email arrives, they will be more willing to act on it.

The autoresponder I recommend (and that is the most widely used today) is Aweber. You can take it for a free test drive.

4. Cross-Promotions. To build up your list fast, do advertising swaps with other list owners. They don’t have to be competitors but rather those that are in related niches. If we continue with our car service center example, you could adswap with a tyre center, gas station, etc.
