Whole By T. Colin Campbell

I saw a lot of good reviews for this book, ‘Whole: Rethinking the Science of Nutrition‘ by T. Colin Campbell, and wanting a good book about health and nutrition I bought the audiobook. Overall I have to say that this book was fantastic!

If you’re struggling to maintain a healthy lifestyle, especially with your eating habits, then this book is a must read. In fact, I firmly believe that EVERYONE needs to read this book.

Sadly, there is a lot of misinformation out there in the world today. Most of us have grown up to believe certain things about health and nutrition as absolutes that are just not true…

  • You need dairy products to get the calcium your body needs
  • You need to eat meat to get the protein your body needs
  • The government and pharmaceutical companies are working together to promote your health
  • Vitamin supplements nourish you the same way whole food would

I must admit that there are a lot of things I know about good eating choices that I find hard to follow myself (I’m a big KFC fan!). That’s why I love to listen to books like this one. It helps to remind, help and motivate me to make better choices.

Every day we make choices that will affect our future. The consequences of our choices will come. Either we choose now to educate ourselves and put in the effort to live a healthy, happy life, or we can ignore those feelings to be more responsible and suffer ill health and remorse later on in life.

Ignorance is not bliss.

If you want to understand better why you need a whole-foods, plant-based diet, then I encourage you to read ‘Whole’.

If you want to understand why you are being misled into believing that a cure for cancer and other chronic diseases is just around the corner, read this book.

If you want to understand why the government and pharmaceutical companies do not have your health at the forefront of their endeavors, you need to read this book.

Don’t worry if you feel that you have too many bad eating habits and that you can’t change anyway. Knowledge is power. As you educate yourself, you will find that you will gradually change, and that this change will come in a natural way to you.

It won’t be a burden. You will come to enjoy your new lifestyle and it will be a joy to you. If you had told me only 7 years ago what my diet would be like and how much I exercise today, I would have laughed at you!

Invest in yourself. You are a spectacular human being and have potential beyond your own wildest dreams. Live up to the destiny that is waiting inside to be fulfilled.
