How to Promote Clickbank and Amazon Products

Here’s a great question I was asked today:

“Hi John,

“I thank you very much for the videos and well explained but concise work done by you. You have made it possible for me to know most of the things other internet marketers were unable to show us. Kudos to you.

“However, i want to find out if i need a Squeeze page as an affiliate marketer. Right now i don’t have a product of my own and i want to be promoting other peoples product on clickbank and amazon till the time is ripe for me to have my own product. On this note, do i need a squeeze page on my blog or just squeeze page alone for lead capture and sell of products.

“Your concern and answer will be highly appreciated.

“Regards,

“Marvin”

My response was:

Hi Marvin, thanks for the email!

Great question.

When I first started out online, I didn’t capture email addresses. I sent traffic directly to Clickbank offers. This was a BIG mistake.

Why?

Because one day I got an email from Google saying that my Adwords account had been suspended indefinitely. Literally overnight my traffic source was gone!

With no traffic, can you guess how many sales I was making? That’s right… one!

Sending traffic directly to offers is not a good idea because by doing so you have lost that visitor forever. The best case scenario is that you will make a sale. Good offers convert at around 2%, which means that 98% of your traffic will go to waste!

Another important reason for not sending traffic directly to offers (whether its your own or to an affiliate offer) is that it is much less profitable!

By getting people onto your list first, you will make much more money because you can build a relationship and promote products to them over and over again, regardless of whether you’re promoting your own product or whether you’re promoting affiliate offers.

Recently, I sent me list some excellent free training on how to build up an Amazon Associates business. Not only did they love the training, I also made a lot of money because the person providing the free training was offering a high-ticket coaching program.

The situation was a real win-win for everyone involved.

A few years ago, I went to a seminar event and was able to spend a little time with top Internet marketer, Ewen Chia. One of the things he said that really struck me was that he wished he had begun building a list earlier on in his career.

In summary, whether you’re promoting affiliate products or your own offers, make sure you’re first priority is to build your list and developer a great relationship with them.
