eBay Classified Ads?
April 8, 2010Not many people are aware that eBay has a section called eBay Classifieds. Unlike the typical eBay auction listing, with eBay’s classified ads, you can promote your products for a fixed, monthly fee.
While the rules are practically identical, there is one major difference between an eBay auction listing and an eBay classified ad; eBay Classifieds allows you to sell digital products, like ebooks.
Recently I set up my first eBay Classified Ad, following an instructional video that was made about a year ago. I was promoting a free offer for one of my ebooks.
After about a week, however, I noticed that I wasn’t getting any responses to it. Because I didn’t know what to expect I let things go for another week.
Still no response!
I concluded that I was doing something wrong and after reading through the eBay Classified Ad rules, here’s some of what I discovered:
1. You cannot have any links in the description of your product to external sites
2. You are allowed to display non-clickable urls but only to webpages that give more information about the product you’re selling
3. You cannot have an optin form on the page
After making the appropriate changes, my ad started to get visitors.Because the monthly cost of an ad is only US$9.95 (for a basic listing), and considering that millions of buyers visit eBay every day, eBay Classifieds should be seriously considered for use as part of any advertising strategy.
My recommendation is to start off with a basic listing and if you find that your ad is profitable, then consider using the extra features to increase your profits.

Are you sure that it is not allowed to put an opt-in form in paid ebay classified ad? I went through ebay classified ads rules and couldn’t find anything about that.
I was so excited about ebay classified ads after watching this video http://resellrightsfortune.com/inside/?p=64 and now I came here and find out that it is not allowed to put and opt-in form…
Do you think it is worth my time to try build a list with ebay classified ads?
Hi Matt Poc, I think that since that video was released there has been changes in eBay’s policies. I find out the hard way when my classified ads kept getting rejected
There may be another way, however, to build a list using eBay Classifieds.
