It takes a considerable amount of effort to promote products online (or offline) so you want to make sure you’re not wasting your time. Let me give you an example of what I’m talking about here. Two friends, Bob and Pete, decide to each open their own business…
Bob does his research and decides to open a food and beverage diner on a highly trafficked area in the middle of a dessert on a stretch of road that has no competitors for many miles.
Pete loves old music and decides to open a vinyl record store.
Whose business is going to be more profitable? Bob’s will, of course!
Okay, that’s an extreme example but I chose that to help you understand an important point. When deciding on what you’re going to promote online, make sure that you’re looking at what the market wants, rather than what you’re interested in personally.
Many, many people make the mistake of going into business thinking that, “If I like this, everyone else will like it too!”. That is not always the case.
I’m not saying that you should promote products purely based on how hot the market is. It is best if you find a niche that you’re also passionate about. This greatly helps motivate you in your business. What I am saying is that you should never lose sight of the fact that you are in business to provide a valuable service and to make a profit.
Anything else is not a business. It’s a hobby.
The great news is, with so many products to choose from on the Clickbank Marketplace, you should be able to find something that you have an interest in and that will also sell well.
What I love about Clickbank is that they give you all the statistical data you need to know which products are selling well and which ones are not.
Okay, let’s go to the Clickbank Marketplace right now and check it out!
While logged into your Clickbank member’s area, click on the Marketplace link in the top menu bar (see image below).
The next page you see will look something like the one below. Click on the ‘Advanced Search’ link near the top right of the page (see below).
On the ‘Advanced Search’ page there are a lot of different search options. The one that is the most important, which we will spend a little time discussing here right now, is Gravity.
Every product on the Clickbank Marketplace is assigned a gravity. The gravity of a product is updated daily and can range anywhere from 0 to 600 or more.
Gravity refers to how many affiliate marketers right now are making sales of that product.
For example, if a product has a gravity of 120, that means that right now there are 120 different affiliates out there that have made sales of that product.
Why is this important to you and me?
A high gravity is a sure sign of a great product to promote! Think about it. The more affiliates that promote a product, the better it must be. Affiliates don’t spend time, effort and money promoting products that don’t sell well and that are not of a good quality.
A good place to start, when looking at the gravity of a good product, is 50. Any product on the Clickbank Marketplace that has a gravity of 50 or more is sure to be a winner!
