Email Ad Swaps? My Success Tips

March 13, 2010

Just today, I was asked how I was so successful in my list-building. Looking back over my stats I found that I had doubled my list size in a period of 2 months. The main way this was accomplished was through email ad swaps.

Here’s what I do to build up my email list:

  1. Organise a new ad swap for every day of the week
  2. Make sure I’m swapping with someone I can trust. (jvlistbuilding.com is a trusted source for adswappers. If someone approaches me from somewhere else I ask them for references first and contact the references)
  3. Make sure I match my ad swap partner’s click-throughs. Even if this means that I need to do another mailout or more.
  4. If I’m happy with the ad swap, I contact the ad swap partner later on to do another ad swap (about 2 months apart)
  5. Work hard on making my email copy responsive. The subject line is the most important. I always reword the ad copy given me by my ad swap partner because my list (and anyone else’s) don’t like it when they get the same subject line and message from different people.
  6. Test each email before I send it out. Make sure all the links are okay, spelling and everything else. Also check that it doesn’t go in the junk mail folder.
  7. Make sure my offer is converting well (this is one of the most important things you need to do). If it isn’t, I look at what is working well for others and do something similar.

You are generous, persevere, do double checking and are not afraid of hard work.

Add to that intelligence and I expect to see your name at the top of any business list.

Great suggestions here. The Ad swap in your hands is priceless.

  5. Hi Hazel,

At the moment I promote free offers related to internet marketing and in turn offer something free to my adswap partner’s list. This is the best way to get the most subscribers to opt-in.
